I did some finish carpentry on a new build.  One of the tasks was building a couple of white oak window seats.
I started by scribing and templating the space with some strips of thin plywood (luan) and a hot glue gun.  Scribing the luan before gluing it together allowed me to accurately cut the window seat to match the wavy drywall surface.
I traced the template onto a piece of white oak veneered plywood.
The circular saw cut away the waste.
A block plane cleaned up the rough edges from the circular saw.
I used a sharp chisel to pare away the waste from the low spots that the block plane can’t get into.
The nosing of the window seat is a rabbeted piece of solid white oak. landing tread  I cut it to size then glued and clamped it to the plywood with domino tenons.
I avoided fasteners by gluing the window seat in place.  Expanding dust-wall poles acted as spreaders to clamp the window seat in place as the PL construction adhesive cured.
This window seat looks good.
This is the other window seat that I built for this project.
